Reusing Elements: Mastering Saved Sections and Global Elements
The Saved feature in the PulseHub Site Builder allows you to save and reuse specific rows, columns, or elements across multiple pages and funnels. By mastering the difference between Global, Universal, and standard saved elements, you can achieve perfect brand consistency and build client sites faster, ensuring your design flow is never interrupted.
1. Understanding Saved Types
There are three primary ways to save an element, each defining how future edits will affect other instances of that element across your sites.
Saved Element (Standard)
Definition - An element (row, column, or single element) that is saved to your library for easy reuse
Use Case - Standard elements like a complex pricing column, a specific button style, or a footer without sensitive information.
Key Feature - Non-Global: Editing this element in one location does not affect any other instances you have used.
Global Element (Universal Update)
Definition- An element that updates everywhere it has been placed, across all funnels and websites in that sub-account.
Use CaseKey - Critical elements that must be identical across the entire site, such as a Contact Form, a Copyright Footer, or a Navigation Menu
Feature - Updates Universally: Edit it once, and the change takes effect immediately on every page where it is used.
Saved Section (Template)
Definition - Saving an entire section (which contains rows, columns, and elements) for reuse.
Use Case - Saving complex layouts like a Testimonial Slider, a Hero Section, or a "Features Grid.
Key Feature - Non-Global: Primarily used as a template. You must manually convert elements within the section to Global if needed.
2. The Process: Saving and Reusing Elements
Saving an Element
Locate: Select the row, section, or element you wish to save.
Save Icon: Look for the Save Icon (usually a small disc or heart icon) in the element's control bar.
Naming: Give the element a clear, descriptive name (e.g.,
Nav Bar - PrimaryorFooter - Global Copyright).Crucial Step: Select Global or Standard:
Standard: Choose this if you want the element to be a template that can be modified independently later.
Global: Choose this if you want all future instances to update automatically when you edit the original.
Reusing the Element
Open Builder: Go to any page in your funnel or website builder.
Add Element: Click the + Add Element button.
Find Saved Section: Look for the Saved tab in the panel on the right.
Insert: Drag and drop your saved element onto the page.
Tip for Clarity: Use a naming convention that indicates the update status. For instance, name your universal elements with the prefix [GLOBAL] (e.g.,
[GLOBAL] Footer - Copyright 2024).
3. Editing Global Elements: Maintaining the Rhythm
Editing a Global Element requires precision because the change is instant and site-wide.
Locate Instance: Open any page where the Global Element is used.
Edit Globally: Click on the Global Element. You will see a special indicator (often a wine-coloured border or lock icon) confirming it is global.
Make Changes: Proceed with your edits (e.g., updating the copyright year or a navigation link).
Confirm and Save: After editing, Save the page. The system will prompt you, confirming that this change will be applied to all pages using this Global Element.
By leveraging Global and Saved elements effectively, you ensure your design work is efficient, consistent, and provides clients with a robust, easily updateable online presence.
